Harbor Hills has a community garden that needs restoration. It could benefit from fruit trees planted around perimeter, restoration of the soil, use of compost and mulch, and CA Natives for habitat. Water can be captured by diverting drainage ditches and from roof tops.
The team for this project includes UC Master Gardeners, staff at Harbor Hills, and the residents at Harbor Hills.
The residents will take ownership of this garden as they see it transform into something beautiful as they work in it.
Residents include families, seniors, and people with disabilites. They are provided with affordable housing and assisted with tools and skills in order to become self-sufficient.
