The Grass-UP-Roots campaign is a pay-it-forward Work Party-with emphasis on the party. Homeowners receive experienced on-site guidance, support and access to materials to transform their front lawns to drought tolerant and food producing landscapes. They may volunteer on future projects.
Local Transition leadership teams will organize and serve as consultants. We will partner with local organizations to put out a call for volunteers to participate in the workday.
Involve local media; showcase lawn conversions in a sustainable garden tour; make powerpoint presentation at local City Council and Neighborhood Council meetings.
To protect our local water shed by conserving water, capturing rainwater, filtering water on site with catchment systems. Encourage homeowners to use water catchment, mulch, low water-need plants.
