Greening the Arts District in Downtown Los Angeles

The Idea

Our community intends to plant trees and do tree care along one of the main streets running through our neighborhood, increasing much needed canopy cover. In addition, we are planning on planting native plants and fruit trees in a narrow parkway strip next to a new market coming soon.

Your Team

Our team is made up of property owners, residents and business owners ready and willing to volunteer for the planning, planting and maintenance of the new street trees and native plants.

The Community

Our Arts District community has been involved in organized design charrettes, planning for the future of our landscape. The results were an overwhelming desire to create more healthy green spaces.

The Need

The Arts District is an industrial area of downtown Los Angeles greatly in need of trees and green space. This project will be a wonderful beginning to our future vision.

Location

The market owner has granted us permission to plant. We need to acquire street tree permits.

Timing

We can begin working on the street trees immediately. Market parkway would be spring 2013.
