The Idea

Vista del Valle DLA would like to be a green oasis in the community. As a new school that opened in 2010, one of the concerns shared by students, staff and parents is that they would like to increase the amount of healthy tree cover and improve the landscape. Please help us become a green oasis.

Your Team

All groups will be involved for the duration. The students have shared their ideas on gardens and are on board to be involved before, during, and after completion. Parents will lead this project.

The Community

The surrounding community will be informed of our plans, and we will elicit ideas from them. We plan on incorporating their ideas and suggestions in our landscape design. We are a community school.

The Need

We will address increasing healthy tree cover and making landscapes more sustainable. Our hope is to use this opportunity to teach our school community (students/staff/parents) about sustainability.

Location

Vista del Valle DLA is located at 12441 Bromont, Sylmar, CA. We have informed our gardening dept.

Timing

The ideal time to complete our project would be during the spring of 2013.
