Hale's PE Field desperately needs some shade! Our middle schoolers use the PE field every period of every day, but it's nothing but a massive, water-sucking, shadeless lawn. We would like to plant a row of trees along the Platt fence to provide shade both for our students and neighborhood residents.
The SCOPE Academy (Student Citizens of Planet Earth) is Hale’s environmentally-oriented service learning academy. They and their teachers will implement the project and care for the trees.
Woodland Hills is a very fitness-oriented community! The trees lining Platt will provide shade for the many runners, cyclists, soccer players, and pedestrians who use our school grounds.
Woodland Hills is HOT and now that school will begin August 14th, we want to provide our students with more shade for PE. Trees will make the area more sustainable and outdoor exercise more appealing!
Hale is located at 23830 Califa Street, Woodland Hills, CA 91367. Yes, we have permission.
Fall is the best time to plant trees! We would like to plant them in September or October.
